What to Expect During a Microblading Session

How Microblading Works

Your eyebrows shape your face and can make or break a first impression. It is likely that much like everyone else, you’ve noticed your eyebrows could use some improvement. You can forego the daily nuisance of filling in your brows or adding colour to them when you get microblading.

Getting a new treatment can be nerve-wracking if you are not informed. If you’re wondering, “what is microblading?” you’ll have a good understanding of that after reading this article. We’ll go over how microblading works, what to expect during your first appointment, and how often you’ll need touch-ups if you plan on keeping your eyebrows looking full, natural, and beautiful.

How Microblading Works

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment that gives the appearance of fuller or shapely brows. The treatment focuses on enhancing your existing brows and bringing out their intended shape by adding fullness, reducing patchiness, and enhancing your eyes.

Thanks to the semi-permanent pigment used to tattoo realistic-looking hairs on the eyebrow,

microblading offers little downtime and long-lasting results. If you hear ‘tattoo’ and worry about the pain, not to worry. Typical sensations are just slight discomfort, but most people report feeling no pain at all. A numbing cream is also available to keep you feeling as comfortable as possible.

Treatment Duration & Touch-up Sessions

The microblading procedure can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes but it is important not to rush the process. We want to be sure to outline and fill your brows just as you desire. You’ll need to wait up to a week for the pigmentation to fully fade to the colour that it’s meant to be.

The initial look should last about 12 months before needing a touch-up to refresh the pigment. Factors that can affect the longevity of your pigment are your skin’s oil production rate, sweat levels, and your amount of sun exposure. Because microblading is semi-permanent, touch-ups should not be longer than a year if you intend on keeping the initial look.

How to Care for Your New Brows

The microblading healing process is important to follow to ensure the pigmentation lasts. For best results, make sure to avoid getting the area wet, or applying any creams or makeup to the treated area for at least a week afterwards.

You will also want to avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating until the area is completely healed. This might take up to 4-6 weeks. Additionally, do not pick at your eyebrows for 1-2 months after the treatment.
